National Television Awards: The Repair Show wins Daytime category
This Morning lost its best daytime show title at the National Television Awards last night, as popular BBC show The Repair Shop swooped in to claim the prestigious prize.
While the ITV show has been on a winning streak in the daytime category for the past few years, it appears something has changed in the wake of ex host Phillip Schofield’s affair scandal and fallout with former pal Holly Willoughby.
Following the awards last night, This Morning’s official account on X, formerly known as Twitter, tweeted in view of two million followers: “Congratulations to The Repair Shop on their win at this year’s National Television Awards.
“We also want to say thank you to you, our viewers, for all of your votes.
“It’s always an honour to be nominated, as we make this show for you and appreciate all of your support.

“We’ll be with you bright and early tomorrow from 10am, so make sure you come and join us on ITV1, ITVX and STV.”
Despite the cheery nature of the tweet, many viewers and social media users were left unconvinced by the message, as they called for show bosses to “read the room”.
Kirby wrote: “I thought repair shop was on at night time have I missed something? Time to read the room or maybe read the comments your viewers want a change.” (sic)
“Read the room your viewers are deserting you in droves,” added Jill, while Lisa mused: “What a very quick statement… Almost like you knew.”
Other fans complained about Phillip’s exit from the show, with Anne complaining: “I think it’s clear to see that you have completely messed up with the Phillip Schofield scandal.

“He was the reason that the programme won year on year… Time to change the format or get him back!” (sic)
Tracey penned: “I never voted for This Morning after the way you all treated Philip schofield serves you right he made the show a success!
“Bring back Philip we might start watching again… This is my personal opinion of which I’m in tilted to! #philipschofield who’s laughing now lol.” (sic)
“I recommend going on The Repair Shop to try and fix the show,” Lew quipped, as Lynne agreed: “This morning needs to go and replaced and updated.” (sic)
Things became rocky at This Morning earlier this year following the bombshell revelation that Phillip had been having an affair with a much younger colleague.
The star apologised for his actions after admitting to the affair, confirming that they were “unwise but not illegal”.
In a statement, Mary Bekhait, chief executive of the YMU Group, previously explained how the agency “parted company” with Schofield “with immediate effect” following the fallout.
ITV has said it investigated rumours of a relationship between Phillip and a younger employee in 2020 – but both “repeatedly denied” it.
It was also recently confirmed that Holly has been complying with an independent investigation into the scandal, with a representative for the star saying she is doing everything asked of her by Jane Mulcahy KC.
As well as The Repair Shop’s victory in the Daytime category, other big winners at the NTAs last night include EastEnders for Best Serial Drama, Sarah Lancashire for Best Drama Performance and The Traitors for Best Reality Competition.
