Amir Khan, whose ten-year marriage to Faryal Makhdoom has been plagued by cheating rumours, has admitted to sexting other women, and vowed to attend therapy to put an end to this habit.
The I'm A Celebrity… South Africa star was caught messaging bridal model Sumaira, known as Sumzz.beauty online.
He also told the model that his marriage was a "business arrangement".
The messages between the pair have since been obtained by The Sun, the same outlet that Amir has now spoken to about these claims – admitting to and apologising for sexting other women.
He told the publication: "I am willing to go to therapy to stop me sending texts to women who aren’t my wife.
“I think nowadays with mental health issues, any help goes a long way. It’s definitely something I would do. Things like that do help, so maybe it’s something to think about.”
Opening up about Faryal's reaction to the messages, he continued: "She was disgusted. It’s not a nice thing to do. She was very angry because I shouldn’t be speaking to people like that.
"She said, ‘If you have a diamond at home, why do you want to mess around with rocks and stones?’ It’s not nice what I’ve done."
Defending himself from claims that he "cheated", Amir added that he didn't see sending these messages as infidelity, but that he did still regret sending them, and has apologised to his wife.
Amir and Faryal got married in May 2013 at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York and later celebrated with a traditional Islamic Walima ceremony in front of 4,000 guests in Bolton.
And this isn't the first time that the pair's marriage has been rocked by rumours of infidelity, four years after tying the knot they briefly split after both accusing each other of cheating.
There ensued a public fall-out which involved Amir’s parents who labelled Faryal "evil" and a bad mother.
However, the family and Amir and Faryal reconciled with things going from strength to strength, going on the welcome their third child in 2021.
And in an exclusive interview with OK! back in 2020, the couple let the cameras into their home to reveal their stunning property including their huge bedroom, luxury lounge and Amir's "lad pad."
He told us: "I swear its the best thing ever. I do think having a separate house has also made our relationship stronger, because you’re not in each other’s face all the time.
"I still need my own space sometimes, to have my friends over and have a little chill. And Faryal can do the same."
