He has since been named as the director of a UK company called Nine Two UK Holdings amid the talks.

As reported in May, if his bid is successful the Qatari banker will look to offer club legends a position in the club's hierarchy.

And former boss Solskjaer, who was sacked in November 2021, has hinted at a comeback "in some capacity".

However, this would not be as a manager due to the club's happiness with the performance of Erik ten Hag, who guided the club back to the Champions League.
