Tom Parker's widow reflects one year on from singer's tragic death
Tom Parker’s widow Kelsey says telling her two children ‘Daddy isn’t here anymore’ was the ‘hardest conversation’ she’s ever had as she reflects one year since his tragic death
Kelsey Parker says telling her children ‘Daddy isn’t here anymore’ was the ‘hardest conversation’ she has ever had to do.
It is one-year since the mother-of-two, 32, lost her beloved husband Tom Parker who died after a brave year-and-a-half long battle with stage four glioblastoma brain cancer aged just 33.
In a heartbreaking interview, Kelsey recalls the day she lost The Wanted star, who she says still sends her messages to keep her going through the toughest of days.
She says she knew when Tom was going to die as his breathing had changed and so she pulled herself together to tell her children; Aurelia, three, and Bodhi, two, she was visiting the hospice to say her last goodbye.
‘The day he was going to die I said to her (Aurelia), “I am going to the hospice to see Dad because I have got to make sure the angels take him today”, she says.

‘We came back in the evening and in the morning I said, “Daddy isn’t here any more. He is in the sky with the angels and the butterflies”,’ she tells The Sun.
‘They accepted it but now we get a lot of questions. Aurelia will ask, “Why has my best friend got a dad and I haven’t got a dad any more?” I say, “You do have a dad, he is not here”.’
Kelsey and Tom married in 2018 and had a 13-year relationship before his tragic death.
One year on, the mother-of-two says she still asks Tom for advice and finds his answers through messages and signs ‘he sends back to me’.
Kelsey says in the middle of the night a Build-A-Bear with Tom’s song from the band sometimes plays without warning and she felt his presence when she trekked to the Sahara desert for charity, she got up to the top of a dune and saw a butterfly.
The grieving widow has documented her loss in a documentary with ITV, called Life After Tom and has spent the anniversary of his death visiting one of his benches on a walk with her loved ones.
Kelsey vows to continue Tom’s legacy to keep fundraising and raising awareness about glioblastoma.
Over on Instagram, the mother-of-two marked one-year since losing him with a touching photograph on her birthday earlier this month.

She accompanied her post with a tear-jerking caption about celebrating her birthday without him for the first time, describing it as yet ‘another first’ following his loss.
She wrote on Instagram: ‘A year ago Tom was about to go on tour for the final time (not that we knew that).
‘I was filled with hope but also knew the tour would be gruelling; it was something he needed to do and for him I’m so happy he got to do it one more time.
‘I didn’t think then that I’d be facing my first birthday without him. Another first. We’re almost done with firsts but I’m not sure that’s going to make any difference.
‘This isn’t what we planned or hoped for but its where we are and we’re going with it, enjoying all we can and living the life we have.’
Last month Kelsey enjoyed a double date with her new boyfriend Sean Boggans on Valentine’s Day.
It emerged in November last year that Kelsey – who shared children Aurelia, three, and Bodhi, two, with Tom – was dating Sean some eight months after her husband’s death.
The pair were introduced by friends at a wedding in London’s Greenwich last October.
