Katie Melua floors This Morning fans with ageless beauty 20 years after hit song

It was a real blast from the past on This Morning today with a surprise appearance from noughties popstar Katie Melua.

The Georgian/British singer has a new album out so was on the popular morning show to promote it. She's also about to perform at the Royal Albert Hall.

Katie, 38, shot to fame as a teen after being spotted by a producer and her mega-smash debut hit The Closest Things To Crazy reached Christmas number one in 2004.

Within three years of being discovered Katie was the UK’s best-selling female artist and is worth a hefty 17 million.

She had a baby last September called Sandro and is about to go on tour accompanied by her son and partner because she believes women should not have to choose between working and childcare.

At the end of her appearance, Kaie performed her old track and fans took to Twitter to rave about the “nostalgia” and how gorgeous Katie looked

One said: “Just beautiful. How lovely are Katie Melua and her classic song” while another added: “Katie Melua looks absolutely stunning on this morning #thismorning … And loving the song too.”

Another fan posted: “I’ve always thought Katie Melua is gorgeous! & She still is!” while another chimed in with: “Special song we played at our wedding 19 years ago on the 27th of March.”

Katie’s family fled war-torn Georgia when she was just nine years old and settled in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

She told the Evening Standard that children of immigrants often feel great pressure to become the family breadwinner and it was her search for perfection that is said to have led to her breakdown in 2010.

Katie admitted of her upcoming album Love & Money: “It’s taken me twelve years, but I feel like this is the first record I’ve made where the music and lyrics truly address what I went through.”

When asked about new motherhood, Katie gushed that it was “like sunshine all the time, only better”.

She added: “One of the best things about becoming a mum is that life no longer feels cyclical.

“Sandro changes every day, and my life changes with him.”

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV1 and ITVX at 10am
