Hollyoaks tragedy as Juliet doesn't get the stem cell transplant?
There is more heartbreak ahead in Hollyoaks for Juliet Nightingale (Niamh Blackshaw), who doesn’t get a stem cell transplant which is needed to save her life.
Juliet, as viewers know, was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma last year, and has since been battling to stay alive, receiving intense treatment after treatment.
After being told that the chemo wasn’t working, the 20-year-old underwent a more a more aggressive form treatment, before attending another PET scan to find out if it had been successful.
The good news was that the treatment had been working, but there was more heartache on the cards, with the doctors informing her that her cancer is ‘aggressive’ and therefore she needs more chemo in addition to a stem cell transplant.
Juliet has tried to remain positive in the episodes that followed, but more heartbreak is coming, with the show’s Spring Trailer confirming that both she and girlfriend Peri Lomax (Ruby O’Donnell) have been keeping a secret.
The secret in question is that Juliet hasn’t actually got the stem cell transplant, despite her loved ones thinking that she did.
The new trailer, which dropped on the Channel 4 soap’s socials on Monday and can be watched above, teases the heartbreaking scenes where Peri, unable to keep shtum any longer, tells everyone about Juliet not having received the life-saving treatment.
The context of what happens after this remains unknown, but fans will no doubt be asking if Juliet will receive the treatment in time, or if, like the trailer suggests, this really is the end.
James (Gregory Finnegan), meanwhile, makes it his mission to do whatever is necessary to save his sister’s life, going to incel Eric Foster (Angus Castle-Doughty) for help.
But just how far will the solicitor go?
Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 7pm on E4, with first look episodes streaming daily on All4.
