Fans of Danny Malin, the star of YouTube channel Rate My Takeaway, have teased him for adopting a healthier lifestyle since becoming engaged to wellbeing coach Sophie Mei Lan.
The fast food reviewer, 43, who regularly entertains 585,000 YouTube fans with his verdict on often calorific dishes, has begun posting about healthier foods on his other social media platforms, revealing he’s swapped a full English for a pot of chia and coconut porridge at breakfast.
Yorkshireman Malin, who lives in Leeds but is originally from Barnsley, recently found love again following the sudden death of his fiancée two years ago from a heart attack with bellydancer and journalist Sophie Mei Lan.
The well being coach, also from Yorkshire, has been encouraging her fiance to take up healthier pursuits including aqua yoga and swimming. While Malin’s fans have commented that the star is looking in good shape, some haven’t been supportive.
One person commented on Instagram: ‘Danny, make sure you keep your own identity. Your own likes and dislikes. Always be your real self.’

On Facebook, a fan said: ‘I have noticed on YouTube that you are losing weight and it certainly shows here in this photo. It can’t be easy when you have to review all those ‘take-aways’. So much temptation with the food you love. All I can say is, ‘Well done, Danny’.
Malin announced his engagement in December, writing that Sophie ‘made him whole again’, and he hopes to spend his life making his new love and his children happy.
The viral star told his fans that he assumed he would ‘live out my days as a lonely old man’ before he met Sophie, thought to be in her early thirties.

He announced that the couple are now engaged on Twitter, writing that Sophie ‘made him whole again’, and he hopes to spend his life making his new love and his children happy
His late fiancée Carrie Taylor died tragically in February 2021 at the age of 40 after suffering a heart attack at the couple’s home – leaving the two children she shared with Mr Malin, and a son from a previous relationship in his sole care.
Confirming his engagement last year, Mr Malin said: ‘I thought I would live out my days as a lonely old man but since meeting Sophie Mei Lan she has made me whole again.
‘Time is short and I am not wasting any of it. I asked Sophie to marry me and thankfully she said yes. I will spend every day making you and our kids happy.’
The popular YouTuber shared news of his relationship with Sophie in November, around eight weeks after the pair met.
He said after meeting Sophie, who works as a journalist and wellbeing coach under the Instagram handle @thesparklecoach, he’s learned to ‘laugh, giggle and enjoy life again’.
‘I am happy to say we are now in a relationship and I would like to thank Sophie for not only showing me that there is happiness again but also being so supportive and understanding about our family situation.’

Mr Malin later posted a photograph of the couple celebrating their engagement at the Hippodrome Casino in Leicester Square, central London.
