Love Island voiceover star Iain Stirling was left baffled on this morning’s episode of Good Morning Britain after co-host Ed Balls asked him if he is going to pull Maya Jama for a chat.
Iain, who is married to former Love Island host Laura Whitmore, sat down of the GMB sofa for a chat with Ed and his co-host Susanna Reid about the latest series of the ITV2 dating show.
But the comedian, 34, was left looking confused after former politician Ed questioned him about getting in touch with Maya.
Ed, who starred on Strictly in 2016, asked Iain about Maya, who made her debut as the new host earlier this week for the winter series: “So you’ve not said to her, can you come over for a chat or I’m sending you a text or anything like that?”
A baffled Iain replied: “To Maya Jama? I’m sure my wife would have something to say about that if that happened.”
He then went on to praise Maya and her presenting stint so far, saying: “I think she’s been, Maya is absolutely fantastic. Laura was absolutely fantastic and Maya has done such a good job.”
He added of her entrances into the South African villa: “And her slow mo walks have been something else, great looks.”
Susanna agreed adding: “I know, she’s been practising those. Also It was kind of amusing in the very first episode where the lads when they arrived all seemed to think Maya Jama was their perfect woman, didn’t they?”
Iain laughed replying: “I think they all sort of stepped forward! They stepped that far forward they nearly fell in the pool bless them. But maybe she’ll go in one year? Who knows!”
Iain married presenter Laura back in 2020 in a secret ceremony, with the bride donning a white suit and headband and silver Jimmy Choo heels.
The couple then welcomed their daughter – Stevie Ré – in March 2021.
Maya has been heaped with praise by Love Island fans following her hosting debut on Monday night. Her first episode went down a storm, with viewers taking to Twitter to gush over the 28 year old.
Some labelled the brunette beauty as being "made" for the dating show, with one writing: “Maya Jama was made for this #LoveIsland”. Another penned: “Watching Love Island for Maya & Maya ONLY”.
A third wrote: “Maya presenting #LoveIsland just fits, in a way nobody else has.”
Laura, 37, announced she was quitting her hosting duties in August just weeks after the summer series ended and after two years in the role.
