Professor Green rushed to hospital and nearly died after falling into ‘steel and concrete’ during seizure

Rapper Professor Green has revealed that he suffered a seizure last year which resulted in a horror fall, that left the singer fighting for his life.

The 39 year old has opened up on the scary incident, during which he smashed his head onto steel and concrete and convulsed for eight minutes.

Sharing a photo of his bruised face on Instagram, the rapper reflected on the terrifying ordeal.

The star explained that he’d suffered from a “grand mal” seizure whilst home alone in April, which left him with facial injuries and dealing with "the bruising internally".

Professor Green, whose real name is Stephen Manderson, admitted to fans that he’d been “clawing my way back ever since".

He wrote in his caption: “I had a grand mal seizure while home alone, fell face down into steel and concrete and convulsed for 8 minutes repeatedly hitting my head and face – I’ve never watched the CTVV.

"The bruising internally was more the issue and I’ve been clawing my way back ever since."

He continued: "It was caused by a culmination of things, but largely I’d not been taking care of myself, the opposite in fact."

The rapper also admitted that he regretted not seeking medical treatment for the condition sooner and bravely spoke about nearly losing his life.

"I nearly lost my family, my family then nearly lost me. Deal with s**t. If you don’t, it’ll deal with you", the dad-of-one told fans.

The rapper received messages of support from fans and friends on his post, with comedian Mo Gillian telling the singer: “Keep going my guy”.

Catherine Tyldesley wrote: “Sending so much love. You don’t need strength- that’s there in abundance. You got this xxx.”

Meanwhile actress Sheridan Smith wrote in the comments: "Hope you’re ok xx" and pregnant Stacey Dooley sent a love heart emoji.

After his post, Professor Green shared a snap of his partner Karima and their son on a beach walk as he wrote: "This is my everything. 2023, be kind, please, please be kind."

It’s not the first time Professor Green has been seriously injured after a seizure – he fractured his neck in 2019 during another fall.

The incident caused him to cancel his 2019 tour but he told fans at the time that he’d been “lucky” that he hadn’t been more seriously injured during the incident.

"I've had two further seizures and am lucky I didn't break my neck. Really f***ing lucky. Thanks for baring with me."

Since then, the artist has gone on to host Channel 5's Lip Sync Battle UK alongside former Spice Girl Mel B.

He also took part in Freeze The Fear with Wim Hof and Holly Willoughby last year, opening up about the passing of his father in an emotional moment during the BBC game show.

Professor Green also recently become a dad, with his first child Slimane Ray Manderson being born in 2021.

The rapper shares the little boy with his partner Karima McAdams and the couple became engaged shortly after welcoming their son.
