Eamonn Holmes pays sweet tribute to late mum ahead of her 94th birthday

Eamonn Holmes has taken to Instagram to pay tribute to his late mum Josie, who passed away last month.

Today, December 3, marks the GB News host’s birthday, with his mother’s falling a day after.

As the 66 year old celebrates his first birthday without his mum, Eamonn shared a snap of him alongside her to social media, where he insisted that they’ll “always be joined at the hip”.

“So my Birthday today and Mum's tomorrow,” he began. “She passed away just 2 weeks short of her 94th but we shall always be joined at the hip. Saggitarians. Always too alike.”

People have since sent warm wishes to Eamonn on what will be a difficult couple of days for him.

“Happy birthday, sending love,” wrote Ru Paul’s Drag Race star Baga Chipz, as S Club 7’s Jo O’Meara replied with a string of heart emojis.

“What a lovely picture and always together with her at this time E,” added Carol Vorderman, while Loose Women’s Denise Welch noted that their late mums share the same birthday.

“Sending you my love”, added Kate Thornton.

Dozens of other people also took the time to wish Eamonn a happy 63rd birthday.

Keith Lemon wrote: “Happy Birthday!” with Lizzie Cundy adding: “Happy birthday darling ! Thinking of you and your dear Mum . Big hugs and love”.

Eamonn announced the news of his mum’s death on 18th November as he heartbreakingly shared that Josie was now reunited with his late father.

His post read: “My 4 amazing brothers and I said Goodbye for the last time to our beautiful Mum Josie this afternoon. She's at last reunited with Daddy now. That is our only consolation."

Eamonn continued: "We loved and will miss her so much. Every time I visited her she came to the door to bless me with Holy Water and Wave goodbye."

"Now sadly it really is Goodbye Mummy," he ended the sad post.

Josie was laid to rest a few days later, with Eamonn going on to thank people for their kind messages.

“To all of you who cared and sent so many messages of condolences re My Mum. I am genuinely humbled and overwhelmed. U have been a great comfort. We lay her to rest this morning. Thank you,” he wrote on 22nd November.

His mum’s passing comes shortly after Eamonn underwent spinal surgery after having long suffered with back problems.

Earlier this year, the presenter had been rushed to hospital after suffering from debilitating and severe pain, which resulted from an earlier slipped disk in his back last year.
