Love Island's Maya Jama in talks to host Brit Awards 2023 | The Sun

SHE has already landed the coveted job of hosting Love Island — now Maya Jama is being eyed up for a far more prestigious job.

The Sun can reveal the telly presenter is in talks to host the Brit Awards in February, after impressing bosses as a roving reporter earlier this year when comedian Mo Gilligan fronted the ceremony.

If she does land the gig by herself, it would make her the first solo female host of the annual music awards since Cat Deeley did so back in 2004.

A music insider said: “Maya Jama has proven to be a really confident and competent host and young people love her, which is key for an event like the Brit Awards.

“Since she helped out earlier this year, her star power has risen and she has been in talks about hosting the show on her own.

“There are plenty of contenders vying for this year’s job as the show’s host and nothing has been signed – but Maya has made it clear she would love to take on the role.

“She has a lot of people backing her too – she’s clever, attractive and is great in front of an audience.”

However, the only sticking point could be the upcoming winter series of Love Island, which is not expected to end until after the Brit Awards, which will take place on February 11 at London’s O2 Arena.

Mo, who is now eyeing up a career in the States, previously took over the job after four years of comedian Jack Whitehall at the helm.

Before him Dermot O'Learyand James Corden had stints as the face of the glittering ceremony, while Ant and Dec did so in 2015 and 2016.

Over the past five years Maya has turned herself from a BBC radio presenter into one of the UK’s biggest tell stars.
