Former X Factor star Stacey Solomon, 33, has described how one particular habit Joe Swash, 40, has as a parent that leaves her “infuriated”. The star then went on to share that, in spite of this, it was Joe’s approach to parenting that made her fall in love with him.

Stacey opened up about her parenting style on the podcast Rob Beckett and Josh Widdicombe’s Parenting Hell a couple of weeks ago.

Rob asked Stacey to name the “one thing Joe does that infuriates you with the kids”, as well as the “one thing she loves most” about him as a parent.

Stacey is the host of BBC show Sort Your Life Out, where she revamps cluttered homes in the UK with her team in order to change the way families live for the better.

Speaking to Rob and Josh about husband Joe, she explained: “The one thing that he does that infuriates me is that he loves to get… stuff.

“I hate getting my kids stuff for no reason – unless it’s like a birthday, bar mitzvah or whatever, why are they getting stuff? Do you know what I mean? That’s just life.

“You don’t just wake up one day and get stuff unless it’s bills through the post. So I hate that, it drives me absolutely mental!” she added.

The pair then went on to ask Stacey what kind of things Joe would buy for the children.

“He comes home with absolute rubbish you know?” she complained. “Like a plastic car or, I don’t know, slime, gunk, whatever and I’m like, ‘Why? Do you hate me? What is this?’”

Rob then went on to quiz Stacey on whether her grievance was more about the clutter or whether she was worried about her kids being spoiled.

“It’s a combination of the two,” she explained. “Mostly, I don’t like them to get stuff unless there’s a real reason for it because I feel like rewards are for people that have done amazing things.

“I sound like a right dictator but I just don’t think they should get stuff for no reason,” she insisted.

“But also it fills up the house and – you know what it’s like, Rob – they play with it for two minutes and once the slime’s in the carpet, that’s it. And then all that I’m left with is a damaged carpet and an unhappy child.”

However, Stacey also went on to explain that the best thing about Joe is how much he “loves their kids”.

She even told the presenters that she fell in love with Joe because of “how much he loved his own son” and “how much time he had for her children”, calling it “the most attractive thing about him”.

Joe shares a son Harry, 14, with his ex Emma Sophocleous, 37, whom he split from in 2008.

The EastEnders star met future wife Stacey in 2010, and he credits the positive media personality for helping to turn his life around.

The pair first met through ITV’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, which they both won in their respective years.

Stacey and Joe got engaged when the actor popped the question on Christmas Eve of 2020.

The couple then tied the knot on Sunday 24 July in an intimate ceremony at their home, Pickle Cottage.

The pair share a three-year-old son named Rex and one-year-old daughter, Rose.

Stacey is also mother to Zach, 13, whom she shares with ex-boyfriend Dean Cox, and ten-year-old son Leighton, whom she shares with ex-fiancé Aaron Barnham.
