The LIV series takes centre stage this week, with the PGA Tour taking a couple of weeks off and a weak field assembled for the Made in Himmerland event in Denmark.
Cameron Smith has been installed as a hot favourite to make a winning start to his LIV Golf career in Boston, with many bookmakers pricing him up as low as 9-2.
There is no doubt LIV front man Greg Norman and his Saudi Arabia paymasters would love to see the Open champion pocket the $4million first prize, to go with his $100million signing on fee.
But their events have not exactly been going to form, with Charl Schwartzel, Branden Grace and Henrik Stenson earning victories that were hardly signposted by their form leading up to those wins.
If Smith gets hot with the putter he could easily buck the trend. But he is probably still on a high from St Andrews, and it is not as if he needs the money this week.
He was also outplayed at last week’s Tour Championship by another LIV newcomer, Joaquin Niemann, so there are plenty of reasons to look elsewhere in Boston.
Hot shot: Joaquin Nieman, 9-1.
As previously mentioned, Niemann was in better form than Smith at the Tour Championship, where he opened with a sizzling 64 to claim a share of the first round lead.
The world No 19 did not do much wrong after that. He fired three more rounds in the 60s, but was swamped by the low-scoring exploits of Rory McIlroy and company.
Niemann still claimed a top ten finish, and the competition this week is nowhere near as hot. With five places on offer, he should reward each way support at the very least.

Mid price: Patrick Reed, 20-1.
Reed will not look back on 2022 with much fondness, apart from when he studies his bank balance and sees his multi-million dollar cheque as one of the earliest players to join the LIV revolution.
But that could change this week.
The former Masters champion managed just one top ten finish in 18 starts before becoming a golfing rebel, and that was back in May at the Charles Schwab Challenge.
Reed has spent much of the year tinkering with equipment and parts of his game, but looked a lot more like his old self when he opened with a 64 at the latest LIV event in Bedminster. His fifth place finish could be the springboard for better things.
Long shot: Cameron Tringale, 66-1
Tringale is another of the LIV newcomers, and he is famous as the player who has banked most money on the PGA Tour without actually winning – over $17million.
With only 47 opponents to face every week from now on, the chances of the 35 year old from California actually breaking his victory doubt have to be a lot better.
But his career earnings underline the fact he should be able to compete at this level, and the world No 55 looks good value at these odds.
