Late-night London spots to visit – now the Night Tube is back up and running

Is there anything worse than enjoying a lovely evening in London, only to realise that you need to rush to catch the last train home?

Thankfully, these late-night dashes are finally a thing of the past (again), as the city’s Night Tube is back in business.

The London Underground Night Tube was fully restored last week, for the first time since the start of the pandemic – much to the delight of Londoners.

Certain lines have slowly recommenced service over the past few months: with the Central and Victoria having reopened in November 2021, and the Jubilee and Northern lines doing so in May and June, respectively. Then, last but not least, the Piccadilly line resumed last weekend.

Now transport isn’t holding us back, bring on the late-night eating, drinking and general merriment in the capital.

If you’re unsure which spots are open until the early hours, we’ve rounded up some great ones to check out.

Be transported to Dublin with this traditional Irish bar – just a stone’s throw from Old Street in Shoreditch.

Three heroes of the London hospitality scene are behind this joint: Tony Gibney (which the bar is named after), Richard Corrigan and John Nugent. Drink, dance or enjoy the live music until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays – the possibilities are endless.

This vibey bar is a little slice of Mexico in the heart of London and it’s open until 1.30am on Fridays and Saturdays.

It’s found on the 10th floor of The Standard hotel and boasts a selection of Mexican-inspired beverages, including a Paloma, Mule Caliente and five different varieties of Margarita. Plus the bar snack menu is open until 1am, should you get a little peckish.

Old Street Records

Fancy live music, pizzas and cocktails? Old Street Records is open until 2am on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, making it a great post-dinner weekend spot for those who don’t want the night to end.

If you want to dance, head downstairs into the basement for DJ sets and jazz nights.

This late-night longue, which is open until 3am, is perfect for when you want to keep the party going.

Whether you opt for a classic cocktail – like a Vesper or Negroni – or something a little different, like a Space Cowboy or a TNT, you can sip away to you heart’s content while London’s nightlife bustles outside.

It’s likely you’ll have heard of this underground bar in Soho – it’s somewhat of a London institution now. Cahoots guarantees to give you a taste of the 1940s – with live swinging entertainment seven days a week.

Open until 1am most evenings, this atmospheric spot is designed to look like an abandoned train station – made up of three spaces: The Underground, Ticket Hall and Control Room.

This Soho speakeasy is ideal for sophisticated late-night cocktails. The brainchild of Rik Campbell and Will Bowlby, the team behind Kricket, it’s hardly surprising then that Indian inspiration can be seen everywhere you look in this joint – so classic drinks get a suitable makeover, including a Curry Leaf Gimlet and a Chaat Margarita.

It’s open until 3am on Fridays and Saturdays.

The Spread Eagle

What sets this London boozer apart from other ones? This was the capital’s first fully-vegan pub – even all the fixtures are plant-based.

During the day the menu boasts a whole host of wonderful vegan options – and be sure to check out their Sunday roasts, too. But in the evening the pub is open until 1am on Fridays and 2am on Saturdays – so guests can enjoy the venue’s cocktail list, which offers vegan twists on the much-loved classics.
