Netflix's Ozark viewers all have the same complaint about season 4's last ever episode

OZARK fans were left scratching their heads after the season four finale, with many complaining they were 'disappointed'.

The dark drama series that has become very popular since first premiering in 2017, dropped the second half of season four on Netflix at the end of April.

In the final moments of the finale a shocking death happens, when the new head of the Navarro cartel, Camila Elizondro shoots Ruth Langmore.

Camila shot Ruth (Julia Garner) after learning she had killed her son Javi Elizonndro following Wyatt Langmore's death.

Fans were completely shocked that such a popular and central figure could be killed off, in the star turning role for Garner.

"I finished Ozark and the ending was disappointing. They stretched the season for this?" complained one fan on Twitter.

Another added: "So I’ve finally finished Ozark and what was that ending? Hmmm they stretched the season for this?"

And a third wrote: "I wasn’t impressed with the ending."

But showrunner Chris Mundy explained how Ruth's death had been in the works for a while.

"It just became pretty clear… that this is what would happen to that character in that place in that situation, having done what she did in (season 4) episode 8, that that sort of authentic ending was that," he told Entertainment Weekly.

"So then it was just a matter of trying to figure that out, making peace with that or just saying, ‘Okay, that is what would happen, but we don’t want it to happen, so we’re going to do something else instead.'

"In a lot of ways, we both kind of hope — I certainly hope — that in some ways it makes her a more memorable character, just because she had this end, and hopefully at least her last moment was brave and on her own terms."
