SEASON 1 of Cruel Summer told the story of Kate and Jeanette, one girl who was kidnapped and one who seemingly took over her life.

Cruel Summer has had viewers gripped since it first aired back in April 2021.
While fans were upset that they were not able to binge the show back then, they can now because all the episodes are available on Hulu.

How did season 1 end?
All season, fans saw the lives of Kate and Jeanette unravel between 1993 and 1995.
As the show progressed, it focused more on Kate's kidnapping and the allegations that she made against Jeanette, which turned her life upside down.
At the end of the season, it was revealed that Jeanette wasn't the person that Kate claimed she had seen, it was actually her new best friend Mallory.

Mallory had witnessed Jeanette breaking into Martin’s home and spotted a blonde in the window, but since she never saw the mystery woman’s face, Mallory assumed it was Martin’s girlfriend or sister.
After Kate was rescued, Mallory figured out the truth but chose not to come forward but Kate ultimately forgave her in the end.
At the end, we also discovered that Annabelle was the name of Martin's gun that Kate used to kill him.
However, the story was not over there and in the chilling final scene, viewers discovered that Jeannette actually did know that Kate was in Martin's house all along.
When is season 2 of Cruel Summer
In April 2022, details on season 2 were released, but they were not what fans were expecting.
The second season will reportedly be about the rise and fall of a teenage friendship and have an entirely new cast.
At this time, the exact reason why the show changed is unclear, but at the end of season 1, Cruel Summer creator Bert V. Royal left the show after having disagreements with the network, according to Deadline.
