GMB’s Alex Beresford faces vile racist abuse after Laura Tobin replacement

Good Morning Britain’s former resident weatherman Alex Beresford has revealed the racial abuse he has received from online trolls since he was replaced by Laura Tobin.

The 41-year-old shared an abusive tweet which was directed to him after Good Morning Britain sent out its own tweet from its social media account.

The official GMB Twitter account posted a video of Laura as she presented the weather, but one foul mouthed hater took the opportunity to send some abuse Alex’s way.

Alex took a screenshot of the troll and immortalised their racist comment on his Twitter profile, which read: “Thank you for coming back, cannot stand that [unrepeatable]”.

The former weatherman didn't hesitate to call out the racist with: “Andrew, you’ve made a typo there!”

Shocked fans were appalled to see the brazen abuse and replied to Alex’s tweet.

One wrote: “Mate, I’m so sorry this s*** is still happening or has ever happened in the first place."

Another posted: “This is why I’m one hundred percent in favour of all Twitter accounts being verified. If he’d said this is the street, he would have been arrested."

A third fan reassured the ITV presenter that he was the “best thing to happen to TV in a very long time” and admired “how he handled” the abuse.

They told the star to “keep being himself” and “doing what he does”.

Alex has unfortunately been subject to racism throughout his time in the spotlight and opened up about his struggles in 2021.

The 41-year-old has previously clashed with former Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan over Oprah Winfrey’s interview with Meghan and Harry.

Piers eventually stormed off the GMB set amidst their altercation which resulted in his resignation and Alex spoke about the experience in an article for The Telegraph.

He said that he had been “forced to step away from Twitter and Facebook” because the abuse from users was “getting too much,” despite the fact that he is a “strong person” but is “not made of steel”.

Due to the backlash after Piers quit the show, Alex took a break from social media – but it appears that the trolls are still relentless, as his most recent run-in with social media racism shows.
