Woman shares grandmas genius trick to get too-tight jeans to fit

There's nothing more frustrating than not being able to fit into your new jeans.

But you're not alone, it's a universal issue that needs some resolving and one grandma seems to have the hack.

In a recent TikTok video a blogger shared that the jeans she bought second-hand don't fit.

She'd opted for a pair in a size down from what she'd normally wear as they were the only ones remaining.

Feeling disheartened after they failed to fit she sought help from her grandma who had a genius idea.

Lily shared: "I spoke to my nana about them, and she said 'have you showered in them yet?' I was like, 'what? No, I haven't showered in my jeans. what are you talking about?'

"She was like, 'just trust me, shower in them, wear them around the house, stretch them out a little bit, and then let them air dry and don't put them in the dryer again'."

She explained that she followed her grandma's unique advice and showered in the jeans before air drying them the next day.

And it worked! Lily's followers were amazed as she shared that the trick went down a treat and allowed the TikToker to slip seamlessly into the new jeans.

"My sensory issues are strong but my desire to fit the thrifted jeans in the back of my closet is stronger," one person commented.

Another said: "This is a very old hack, I’m 75 and did that with old jeans when I was in my 20’s".

Others weren't too impressed with the thought of walking around in wet jeans but were willing to try it out.

If you're worried about whether a pair of jeans you desire will fit you, OK!'s Fashion Stylist and Writer has just the hack.

In order to gage whether the jeans are your correct waist size, all you need is your forearm, so from your elbow to your hand.

Grab your pair of jeans and place your arm inside the waistband, with your elbow at one side and your hand held into a fist, if you find there is space between the end of your hand and the other side of the jeans, then they will be too big.

If when you try to put your arm in and you can't place your fist inside, then these will be too small.

However, when you put your arm in and it fits perfectly into the waistband without any struggle, then these are the perfect size for you.
