Meghan Markle captures the attention of the world every time she is seen in public. While her outfit choices are always talking points, the Duchess of Sussex rarely deviates from her signature makeup. Previously, it emerged that Meghan’s glam-squad is a one-woman show; instead of having a professional makeup artist for most public appearances, she chooses to do it herself. There is, however, one beauty trend Meghan doesn’t follow – a red lip.

Daniel Martin, Meghan’s wedding makeup artist said: “She’s gotten more comfortable doing her own makeup.

“She loves makeup and she’s good at it.

“She’s been doing her makeup herself. She’s not fussy – she’s just trying to get it on and get out the door.”

In terms of the choices she makes, Daniel added: “She likes a stronger eye, her brow is a lot more defined now but it’s still her.

“If anything, she’s going to experiment with different tones, and now that she’s more tan she’ll use warmer colours.

“But she doesn’t stray too far from her technique, she’s very formulaic with her routine.”

There is, however, one beauty trend Meghan doesn’t follow – a bold lip.

The makeup artist explained: “The one time she did a red lip, she just didn’t feel comfortable in it.

“She likes to talk and she’s not a fussy person, so she doesn’t want to have to worry about anything.”

As for Meghan’s wedding day look, Daniel spoke about how he got her famous freckles to shine through.

He said: “She has great skin, and I had to deal with natural light, her in the church, her being televised and then her going outside again during the carriage procession.

“She couldn’t have a ton of makeup on because it would look so different in every variable, so less is more.

“It was literally skincare, a bit of foundation selectively and concealer, but that’s when you really saw her skin come through,” he told People.

Daniel is a renowned makeup artist, who has worked with the likes of Bella Hadid, Jessica Alba, and Gemma Chan.

He first met Meghan back in 2011 at the Upfronts in New York City and said they instantly connected.

From there, he became her go-to for press tours and photo shoots.

Daniel was a regular contributor on Meghan’s now-defunct beauty blog, The Tig.

In 2014, the Duchess wrote endearingly of him: “Getting dolled up requires hair and makeup.

“Hair and makeup requires a glam team. The best half of that equation is undoubtedly celebrity makeup artist Daniel Martin.

“I love this man, and not in that industry way of saying you ‘love’ someone as casually as you order your macchiato. I actually love this guy,” Vogue published.
