Joy-Anna Duggar breaks father Jim Bob's rules by letting daughter Evy, 1, play with makeup

JOY-ANNA Duggar was raised under Jim Bob Duggar's strict rules but she's raising her daughter Evy, 1, her own way, allowing her to play with makeup — a major no-no in Duggarland.

The Duggar children were raised in a strict Christian household, adhering to modesty standards and avoiding secular delights.

Joy-Anna shared a video of her daughter sitting in the sink playing with her makeup.

She captioned the post: "Good morning.

"Evelyn putting her makeup on with mama."

The tiny tot sat in the sink with a brush in her hand, waving it in front of her face.

"You putting your makeup on?" Joy-Anna asked, to which Evelyn responded: "Yes."

Joy-Anna cooed: "Oh you're so pretty."

Makeup is among the many major no-nos in Jim Bob and Michelle's home, where girls adhere to modesty standards that include covering shoulders and knees.

SOCIAL MEDIA TIME OUT

She also gave an update on what's going on with her and what her plans for the upcoming year are.

Explaining her recent absence from social media, Joy-Anna said: "Some of you guys have checked on me in the past when I don't show up for a couple days on Instagram, so I wanted to let you know Austin and I decided that for the new year we want to refocus, kind of reprioritize a lot of things.

"And so I decided that I am going to take off for the month of January off of social media, off of movies and just take time to refocus on my family and spend quality time with my kids.

"I'm really excited about this and I know it'll kind of set the tone for the whole year and I want to start the new year off right."

It's unclear what sparked the decision to make the change.

Although Joy-Anna strays occasionally from Jim Bob's rules, she does many things by the book.

Her children, Gideon, three, and Evelyn, are both home schooled just as she was.

SCHOOL'S IN SESSION

She recently gave fans a glimpse inside one of their home schooling sessions, showing a new skill Gideon learned.

Joy-Anna filmed Gideon reciting the alphabet.

She captioned the clip: "Doing school! We normally sing the alphabet song, say our numbers, shapes, and colors.

"Nothing too exciting, but just getting them familiar with it!"

Another Story showed her eldest child learning his shapes, which Joy-Anna captioned: "Gideon learned his shapes really quickly. She is still struggling with the others."

Her most recent post showed her practicing counting with Evy as well.

The majority of the Duggar family home schools their children.

Rebel Jill Duggar, however, has taken a huge leap and forged her own path.

Her son Israel attends public school.

She also drinks alcohol on occasion, wears pants, shorts, and tank tops, and does other things her father generally wouldn't approve of.

Jill has been open about her complicated relationship with Jim Bob and Michelle in recent years.
