Charlotte Crosby sparks row with Piers Morgan over Greggs' new vegan sausage rolls

CHARLOTTE Crosby has sparked a row with Piers Morgan over Greggs' new vegan sausage rolls.

Since the start of the year the Good Morning Britain host has been raging about the new menu item, branding the bakery “PC-ravaged clowns” while telling them: “Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage”.

But yesterday the Geordie Shore star, 28, put him in his place and told him: “Well actually with vegans on the rise with over a 700% growth in the last 2 years, revealing the number of vegans in the UK now exceeds three-and-a-half million.

“Means there WAS in fact a lot of people waiting for this. #DontHateTheRoll #SausageRollThursdays #RockAndRoll.”

Annoyed he replied: “If there are 3.5 million vegans in Britain then I’m the Archbishop of Canterbury.”

Not surprisingly Charlotte wasn’t the only one to fight back at his comments and it wasn’t long until Piers told them: “Vegans, please stop screaming at me – you're damaging my mental health.”

Greggs also expertly trolled the famous rent-a-gob, replying to his initial tweet on the issue: "Oh hello Piers, we've been expecting you."

Piers attempted to get one-up, replying: "Isn’t it time you changed your name to something more gender-fluid & less toxically masculine? [sic]" but it was too late – with Greggs' tweet being retweeted and liked tens of thousands of times by impressed followers.

The £1 rolls, which have a Quorn filling instead of sausage meat, launched yesterday and sold out straight away.

The 96-layer pastry on the vegan sausage roll is the same used in Greggs' other treats as it doesn't contain butter or eggs.

But the new animal-free latticed roll isn't glazed with milk like its meaty counterparts are.
