Trisha Yearwood’s sugared pecans recipe comes from her brother-in-law
Yearwood’s sugared pecans are a family recipe. As the Grammy winner explained on her Food Network show, Trisha’s Southern Kitchen, she got the recipe from one of her husband Garth Brooks’ siblings.
“My brother-in-law, Jerry, used to bring these to me all the time,” Yearwood said as she whipped up a batch. “He made them and he gave me the recipe.” Hence why Yearwood’s sugared pecans recipe is appropriately called Jerry’s Sugared Pecans.
The country music star continued, saying Jerry inspired her to start doing the same thing: “That’s why if I make something for somebody I like to give them the recipe. Then they can make it themselves if they really like it.”
Trisha Yearwood says not to panic if Jerry’s Sugared Pecans don’t look right
According to Yearwood, the sugared pecans are “super easy to make.” They turn out “really crispy and crunchy” with hints of sugar and cinnamon. The ease of the recipe aside, remember what she has to say about the pecans coming out of the oven.
Basically, don’t worry if Yearwood’s sugared pecans look like something went wrong in the oven. According to her, the same thing happened the first time she made Jerry’s Sugared Pecans. “The first time I took them out of the oven they looked kind of wet and gooey and I thought maybe I had done something wrong,” she recalled on Trisha’s Southern Kitchen.
The 57-year-old continued, reassuring viewers they’re going to turn out fine: “So if you’re doing this at home know that they’re going to look that way when you first take them out of the oven. But then they’re going to crisp right up.”
So remember what she said before throwing out a perfectly good tray of Jerry’s Sugared Pecans because they don’t look right.
