EastEnders’ Shane Richie splashes out £91,000 on a top-of-the-range caravan so he can nap between panto shows

SHANE Richie has just splashed out £91,000 on a top-of-the-range motorhome – so he can nap between panto shows.

The EastEnders legend, 57, has just taken delivery of the luxury vehicle in time for his stint treading the boards as Dick Whittington.

Hard-working Shane will perform up to 12 shows a week and having his comfy van on hand means he can get some shut-eye between matinee and evening performances at Wimbledon’s New Theatre.

A source revealed: “Shane lives about an hour or so away from the theatre so he can go home after the last shows but there are several hours to kill in between performances and having the van means he can get his head down and really rest up before he’s due on stage.”

Alfie Moon star Shane’s just bought his second – a Carthargo C-Tourer – after down-sizing from a larger vehicle.

The vehicle has a full-size double bed on board and en-suite facilities.

And he’s also responsible for EastEnders pal Adam Woodyatt getting a motorhome.

Walford mate Adam caught the touring bug after inspecting pal Shane’s splendid home on wheels.

Our source added: “Adam had been after a motorhome for years but was worried about the financial cost as the price tags are huge.

“He knew that Shane had experience of the vehicles so he talked to Shane and he fell in love with the idea.”

Ian Beale actor Adam – soon to join I'm a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here – has also just splashed out on a Carthago motorhome this month.

He made the pricey purchase from a showroom in Lincoln. He traded in his old vehicle.

In November last year it was reported Shane had reportedly splashed his I’m A Celeb cash on a £75,000 camper van.

The 56-year-old was seen in high spirits as he sat in the flashy van in photos on the company's Twitter account.

In one snap, taken by The Camper UK company, Shane looked pleased as punch with his new set of wheels and his cute pet dog.

The top of the range motorhome boasts pilot seats, cruise control, a freezer, three-hob cooker, fridge, and even an oven.

Writing on Twitter, the company penned: "When BAFTA award winning actor @realshanerichie arranged an appointment at Camper UK in Lincoln to purchase a new motorhome, Managing Director, Dean, knew just the van: the new Geist by LMC Explorer Premium I 650."

Dad-of-five Shane – born Shaun Roche in Harlesden, North West London – is best known for his portrayal of Alfie Moon on the BBC soap.

But the panto veteran has also starred in a number of musicals and theatre productions since shooting to fame in 1977.

Last year he starred in Wimbledon Theatre's production of Dick Whittington, but has also played parts other shows such as Cinderella and Aladdin.
