Overnight Tom Holland attended a Spider-Man: No Way Home event that debuted the newest trailer for the Marvel movie. The three-minute visual feast showcased a number of the classic Spider-Man villains, including Electro, Lizard, Sandman, and two types of Green Goblin. And, at first glance, there was almost no sign of the two other Spider-Men, played by Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire.

However, Brazil received a completely different trailer to the one showcased online.

In that trailer, the fight between Holland’s Spider-Man and Lizard, Electro and Sandman is given just a few more seconds of footage.

Cyber sleuths on Twitter have noticed a glaring issue with the battle, which shows Lizard being punched by nothing.

The clip – which can be seen below – shows Lizard leaping towards Holland, before being hit in the head and launched away.

Fans have determined that this is phantom punching the Lizard is in fact Garfield’s Spider-Man.

One fan on Twitter theorised: “Brazil trailer didn’t do a good job at hiding that hit from an imaginary person.”

Another agreed: “Watching Lizard getting punched in the face by an invisible (digitally removed) Spider-Man.”

A third added: “LOL @ LIZARD BEING PUNCHED BY NOTHING Y’ALL DON’T TRIP THEY’RE IN THE MOVIE RELAAAXXX.”

For now, Marvel and Sony have claimed Garfield and Maguire are not in the movie – but with their signature villains in the mix, it is hard to believe them.

Garfield himself has been adamant in recent interviews that he is not in the movie.

After being grilled by The Today Show, he replied: “You guys are really good at your jobs but I’m better at mine!

“Listen, I am not in the film, I love Spider-Man, I always have. I was so happy to have played the part and I’m so excited to see what they do with the third one just like you guys are.”

Garfield went on to praise the current run of Spidey movies, adding: “I love Tom Holland, I love John Watts, I love Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige and what they’ve done with those movies and that character because you know that’s an important character to me.”

Holland himself recently confirmed the legacy Spider-Men are not in the movie.

He told Total Film: “People don’t believe me when I say that [Maguire and Garfield] are not coming back. But people are going to have to believe me at some point.”

The 25-year-old then gushed about the former villains returning, saying: “It means a lot to me. The first time you see Doc and the rest of the characters that come back, it’s so exciting. It’s such a huge moment in cinematic history. It’s three generations coming together.”

Holland then spoke candidly about working with the likes of Alfred Molina and Jamie Foxx in his new movie.

He said: “Everyone puts their trousers on in the same way in the morning. It was interesting having those guys come in because they have a certain ownership over Spider-Man in their own way, and… [pause] …I’m talking about Alfred [Molina] and Jamie [Foxx] and those guys.

“To see Alfred come in, and have to adapt and change to the way that the films are made, but also change director, and also [the fact that] I’m now Spider-Man. It was really interesting to see these actors adapt and change what they were doing to fit the modern era.”

Spider-Man No Way Home hits cinemas on December 15.
