The One Show’s Alex Scott, 37, went on her Instagram story to share news of her unknown admirer with her 555,000 followers. The presenter asked fans for help as she tried to determine the sender’s identity.

“I think I need your help to solve a mystery,” Alex said.

“I got sent these roses last week to work here at The One Show.”

At this point, the star revealed a bunch of roses wrapped in red paper on her dressing room table.

She went on to reveal that there was a card attached which gave her some idea of who her admirer might be.

In the card was written: “Happy birthday supergirl Alex Scott.

“Big hugs from Derrick Jones.”

Whilst the name might have been enough to clear up any confusion, this only baffled the star more.

“Who is Derrick Jones?” she asked.

“Reveal yourself please because I have no clue.”

She ended the video by mouthing the word “help” in an open plea to her audience.

Alex is known to keep her romantic life relatively private, although she has previously been linked to Corrie actor Sam Robertson

The former football star was seen enjoying an intimate evening with the actor at a restaurant last year.

Sam, 36, was best known for playing Ken Barlow’s grandson Adam in Coronation Street.

Alex has been busy in her time since playing for Arsenal so it comes as no surprise that her love life is not the centre of her focus.

The pundit has enjoyed a successful presenting career, becoming the first female presenter of Football Focus after taking over from Dan Walker.

The star has also delighted audiences with her appearances in reality shows like Strictly Come Dancing and Bear Grylls’ Mission Survive.

In 2019, the star told Hello Magazine: “I’m single but it’s not like I need to find someone.

“I like things to happen organically and if someone comes into my life and we get on, then great.

“It’s not like I need to go searching for it.”

Tonight on the One Show Alex will be joined by co-presenter Ronan Keating, where they will interview the stars of Mrs Brown’s Boys and Nadiya Hussain.
