Before We Die finally debuted last week, May 26, bringing together a talented cast for the new crime drama on Channel 4. The show, which is a remake of a Swedish series, focuses on a detective whose son is implicated in a crime. In the cast is Issy Knopfler playing Bianca Mimica, but what else has the star been in?

Who is Bianca Mimica star Issy Knopfler?

Issy Knopfler is a relative newcomer to acting, having only starred in a handful of short films up until this point.

Her character of Bianca Mimica is by far her largest role to date, with just six short films under her belt.

The shorts are End Point, Egerton, Two, Tully, Elm and Richardson, all releasing between 2019 and 2020.

The star has two other upcoming projects, Everything I Ever Wanted to Tell My Daughter About Men and And Anne.

What Before We Die fans might not realise is that Knopfler is the daughter of British musician Mark Knopfler, the lead guitarist of the band Dire Straits.

Mark Knopfler was the lead guitarist, singer and songwriter for the band before leaving them in 1987 to pursue a solo career.

The band would later reunite in 1991, only to split up again just four years later in 1995 – Mark Knopfler is an independent solo artist to this day.

Issy Knopfler is now looking to establish herself as an artist in her own right, with Before We Die marking her first major role in her career.

The star shared the trailer for episode one on her Instagram, where many of her fans shared their support for the series.

One fan said: “So so so immensely proud of you! I feel so blessed to have watched you grow and continue to grow into the strong woman you are meant to be! Can not wait to watch this!”

Critics have sadly been less kind on the new series, with many rating the show poorly and comparing it to the Swedish original.

Despite this, many fans tuned into the pilot to see for themselves and share their thoughts online.

Before We Die has received a mixed a strong reaction from fans following the pilot episode on May 26, with many taking to Twitter to share their thoughts on the show.

One fan said: “Thank YOU @4Viewers and @Channel4 for bringing us such a phenomenal series! It feels so different from the usual dull drama on telly… it feels like high-class cinema! #BeforeWeDie The cast is insanely good!”
