EastEnders exit for Big Mo Harris as Laila Morse leaves role
EastEnders legend Laila Morse is leaving the BBC soap, after more than 20 years.
The 75-year-old made her debut as Big Mo Harris in 2000, and has delighted fans ever since.
It has now been claimed that the actress will be leaving the show later this year – but it may not be for good.
It must be noted that Laila regularly takes breaks from the show, and may be back in Walford in the future.
An EastEnders spokesperson told Metro.co.uk: ‘Just like many occasions before, Big Mo will be departing Walford but as always she’ll no doubt be back in the not too distant future.’
The Daily Star states her departure will air in spring – with bosses still deciding on the storyline surrounding the break.
Big Mo waded into Walford more than two decades ago, heading up the iconic Slater clan.
Since then, she hasn’t given her family – or viewers – a moment of peace, becoming a firm Albert Square favourite.
While it is not known how the character’s exit will be addressed, she may have some sad times ahead after Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) found a lump on Christmas Day.
In emotional scenes, we watched as she went in for a biopsy, believing her cancer to have returned – but fled the surgery before the doctor was able to check it out.
Jean recorded an emotional video for her loved ones, explaining that she has decided not to undergo treatment on the lump – but her family is still in the dark about her decision.
Will they be able to change her mind?
