Vernon Kay gives up his bed for Victoria Derbyshire and sleeps on the freezing stone floor for his first night in camp

PRESENTER Vernon Kay is proving to be the ultimate gentleman during I'm A Celeb.

The All Star Family Fortunes favourite, 46, is one of ten celebs taking part in this year's series at the haunted Gwrych castle in North Wales.

He spent the first night sleeping on the stone cold floor after giving up his bed for journalist Victoria Derbyshire.

But he admitted while his offer seemed chivalrous, it was actually more comfortable sleeping on the floor.

"I slept on floor last night. The two hammocks are not comfortable. I said to Victoria as she slept on hammock first night," Vernon revealed on the I'm A Celebrity… Daily Drop show hosted by Vick Hope.

"I slept on floor last night. It was more comfortable to hammocks."

Vernon also revealed how the harsh Welsh elements were having a very big impact on the celebs.

He said: "We've had one real heavy downpour which meant you had to run to the privy."

This week the campmates will be lashed with rain and biting wind ALL WEEK – as the gales are set to reach 50mph.

The famous faces had to swap the sweltering heat of the Australian jungle for freezing cold Wales this year due to travel restrictions.

But with it being winter at Gwrych Castle, the weather is terrible – with rain nearly all week.

According to the BBC, today, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday will be covered in rain.

Only Tuesday will they have some reprieve, as there's only a chance of light rain.

This comes as I'm A Celebrity bosses made emergency plans as storms threatened to plunge the show into chaos.

But Wales was not the only place to see waterworks, as Vernon's wife Tess Daly admitted crying watching her hubby on the ITV reality series.

Tess, 51, took to Instagram after the show aired to confess she was overwhelmed with emotional as she watched Vernon begin his bid to become king of the castle.

She said as she shared a screengrab of Vernon on the show: “I was so excited tonight watching @vernonkay on @I'macelebrity I took a picture of the TV!

"What a great show it was; I laughed and cried already! And @antanddec brilliant fun.”

Vernon previously struggled to contain his emotions in a trailer video for the show where he discussed how he wanted to make his and Tess' two daughters Phoebe, 16, and Amber, 11, proud.
