Palace Spotlights Fall 2020 Collaboration With Pop Artists John and Molly

Moving into its Fall 2020 collection, Palace has now prepared its first collaboration for the season with legendary British artist duo John Dove and Molly White. Capsule celebrates the pop artists work across an array of media that has had an immeasurable influence on pop culture. Back in the 1960s, John and Molly were at the forefront of the revolutionary convergence of music, fashion, art and graphic design most notably in the creation of punk’s visual and sartorial identity.

“We never made outfits for Iggy Pop, Johnny Thunders, Mick Jagger, Marc Bolan, Lou Reed, Sid Vicious, Steve Jones, Glen Matlock, Paul McCartney and Malcolm McDowell…” say the duo; “…they acquired them from us. We made those so-called iconic pieces because we were only interested in creating something that hadn’t been done before – something completely new,” in reference to iconic T-shirts and clothing designs have been worn by rock & roll royalty.

Comprised faux fur hooded jacket, jeans, hoody, long-sleeved T-shirt and a bucket hat, the special range is centered around the duo’s LIPS print from the early 70s. “The LIPS is one of our instant coffee ideas that was spun out in a couple minutes in 1973…” say the artists “…made from lips torn from film-star faces in the pages of magazines that were always lying around our studio – then pasted onto black board. It was an impulse – like good sex.”

Palace’s first drop of its collaboration with John & Molly is now available as part of its inaugural Fall 2020 collection, both in-store and online, including the now-open official “Palace_Skateboards” WeChat store.

For more contemporary fashion, Stüssy recently flipped its logo with its Reflect T-Shirt.
