Goodwood Tips: Nassau Stakes runners and riders – Your pinstickers' guide to today's Group 1 race

IT haz to be Naz in the Nassau Stakes.

NAZEEF is improving fast for John Gosden and impressed when winning the Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket. She looks ready for this step up in distance and can extend her winning run to a magnificent seven.

Fancy Blue is a rising star who dug deep to win the French Oaks over this trip at Chantilly. She gets weight from her elders which could make all the difference.

One Voice looks overpriced after an unlucky fifth at The Curragh. She has more to offer and is another getting that allowance.

DEIRDRE 3

DEIR do. Won this last year and has run well a couple of times since, although she looked pretty rusty when fifth in the Coral-Eclipse at Sandown last time.

We know she handles this tricky track and the trip suits well. Needs to improve on that but should be fitter and this small field suits her nicely. Would be disappointing if a couple of the others weren’t too good though.

LAVENDER’S BLUE 2

FEELING Blue. Won a Group 3 at Sandown last summer before finishing a solid fourth in the Group 1 Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket in October. She looked in need of the outing when seventh behind Nazeef in the Duke Of Cambridge at Royal Ascot which is fair enough after eight months off. She shapes as though stepping back up to this distance will suit but she needs to improve against these rivals.

MAGIC WAND 3

COULD it be Magic? Has plenty of miles on the clock but her wins include a Group 1 in Australia over this trip and a couple of other massive efforts in far flung parts of the world. She didn’t have to be at her best to land a Curragh Group 2 on comeback last month but she was put in her place when fourth in the Coral-Eclipse last time. Her best form would give her a chance but some of the others have more scope to improve.

NAZEEF 5

NAZ a knockout. John Gosden’s four-year-old just keeps improving and has gone from a handicap success to Group 1 glory in the space of four runs. She’s taken a big step forward over a mile this season with a Listed victory followed by the Duke Of Cambridge at Royal Ascot before a battling success in the Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket. She looks ready for this step up in distance and can take another step forward.

QUEEN POWER 2

QUEEN off throne. Chased home Nazeef at Ascot last time out when the drop back to a mile didn’t seem to suit. Her best efforts have come over this trip including when second in the Dahlia Stakes at Newmarket on comeback. This is her first crack at a Group 1 and, while it’s still early days in her career, improvement is needed to win.

FANCY BLUE 4

FANCY her. Has had just four runs and switched to Donnacha O’Brien from dad Aidan having already won a Listed race as a two-year-old. She’s progressed really well this season and was a good second in the Irish 1,000 Guineas before leaving that form behind to win the French Oaks over this trip last time. She gets a handy weight allowance from the older horses and has a lot more to offer at this distance and beyond.

ONE VOICE 3

FULL Voice. Jessica Harrington’s three-year-old has improved this season and looked a nice prospect when winning the Group 3 Blue Wind Stakes at Leopardstown over this trip in June. She dropped back in trip at the Curragh last time and was unlucky not to take another big prize. She was tanking along before meeting trouble in running and having to settle for a close-up fifth. Going back up a furlong looks a wise move and Tom Marquand’s mount should go well.
