Meet the on-off celebrity couples who prove that parenthood can provide the ultimate relationship fix

WITH celebrity relationships often destined to end in failure as couples struggle under the constant glare of publicity, it seems that having a child can be the answer for many on-off partners.

Here we look at how stars from Simon Cowell to Iggy Azalea and Zayn Malik have found the ultimate relationship fix by embracing parenthood.

Gaz Beadle, 32, and Emma McVey, 27

When lingerie model Emma announced in May 2017 that her boyfriend, Geordie Shore star Gaz, had cheated and dumped her by text after nine months, no one was that surprised.

The “pulling machine”, who claims to have slept with over 1,000 women, was arguably never the sort to be trusted.

But then, a month after going their separate ways, Gaz and Em were spotted at a hotel and declared they were back on.

Soon after, they took to Instagram to announce she was pregnant.

Now Gaz has shown himself to be a proper family man – as well as two-year-old Chester, he and Emma welcomed daughter Primrose in December, a month after getting engaged.

Zayn Malik, 27, and Gigi Hadid, 25

From first hooking up in November 2015 to surprising the showbiz world three months ago by revealing they’d made a baby, former 1D star Zayn and supermodel Gigi’s romance has been on and off more than a kitchen kettle in lockdown.

The couple split for the third time (as far as we can count) in January 2019.

Then, almost a year later, Gigi hinted of reconciliation by tagging Zayn’s mum Tricia in an Insta post about cooking one of her recipes.

In April, the pair were pictured together self-isolating, Gigi confirmed her pregnancy and now engagement rumours are rife thanks to Zayn’s latest tattoo – a marriage poem.

It seems the parents-to-be have finally resolved their issues and Zigi are heading in one direction.

Iggy Azalea, 30, and Playboi Carti, 23

Iggy announced the arrival of her first child in June after months of pregnancy speculation and in a sigh-of-relief ending for her and partner Playboi Carti (AKA Jordan Terrell Carter).

The couple began dating in 2018, moved into their Atlanta pad together in December 2018 and got engaged in July 2019.

But the relationship hit the skids just before Christmas when Iggy made an “impulse” announcement on social media declaring she was single.

Solo life, though, was short-lived.

Rap fans rejoiced when the industry’s coolest duo reunited just in time to become a happy family of three, although they are yet to announce the name of their baby son.

Rap-cool nicknames on a postcard please!

Cara de la Hoyde, 29, and Nathan Massey, 27

The couple got together on Love Island in 2016 and split shortly after they realised they were expecting, and for a while they made an amicable
go of being friends and parents-to-be.

Nathan supported Cara during her pregnancy and attended every hospital scan, but the couple who insisted they “get on as friends better than partners” rekindled things in November 2017, a month before welcoming son Freddie-George, now two.

They then married last summer, a year after Nathan popped the question back at the Love Island villa.

And now baby number two – a girl – is on the way, and we couldn’t be happier for them!

Simon Cowell, 60, and Lauren Silverman, 42

X Factor boss Simon reportedly dumped former New York socialite Lauren in May 2013 after details broke of their affair.

But he changed his tune when Lauren divulged she was 10 weeks pregnant.

Lauren’s husband Andrew, who had introduced her to Simon, then divorced her on the grounds of adultery.

But all’s well that ends well and Lauren is said to be the only woman to have tamed the once notorious womaniser.

Simon is now a devoted daddy to son Eric, six, and Lauren’s son from her first marriage, Adam, 14.

She must have the X Factor…

Elon Musk, 49, and Grimes, 32

When this unlikely pair got together two years ago, jaws dropped in both the business and music worlds.

Singer Grimes (real name Claire Boucher) met the Tesla and SpaceX CEO over Twitter before they stepped out officially at the Met Gala in 2018.

Since then, they’ve reportedly weathered many relationship storms, including a three-month split shortly before the arrival of their son in May.

They reconciled in time for the birth (adding to Elon’s existing brood of six children) although the, er, unusually named X Æ A-12 has sparked questions.

Is it a code? Is it an attempt to out-name Apple, Blue Ivy, Shiloh and Pax? Goodness knows.

What’s obvious, though, is Grimes and Elon are the celebrity world’s most intriguing couple.
