Elvis Presley and Led Zeppelin are two of the most successful music artists of all time. And one time, they had an amusing encounter with each other when the band attended one of the King’s concerts. It was 46 years ago this month in fact.

The official Graceland Instagram page posted: “May 11, 1974: Members of Led Zeppelin attended an Elvis Presley show at the Los Angeles Forum.

“During the show, Elvis stopped the band and jokingly said: ‘Wait a minute.

“‘If we can start together fellas, because we’ve got Led Zeppelin out there. Let’s try to look like we know what we’re doing.’”

Zeppelin met with Elvis after the show and spent over two hours backstage, where he asked for their autographs to give to Lisa Marie.”

Robert Plant once recounted how upon meeting Elvis, it turned out he had never listened to Led Zeppelin.

That was except for his cousin playing him Stairway to Heaven.

The singer told David Letterman in 2011 how Elvis asked him which songs of his he liked.

Plant said how liked loads of them and added: “But I do sing this song Love Me [sings ‘You can treat me like a fool …’).”

Plant revealed: “So we talked and talked, and then we said goodbye, shook hands and said we’d all meet again.

“And we’re out in the corridor, we’re heading for the elevator, and suddenly he swings around the door and says ‘Hey Robert!’

“And he started singing [Love Me] to me.

“And I was singing [it] to him, and we were all crying.”

Elvis also met The Beatles back in 1965 at his LA home.

The Fab Four were so in awe of their music icon that they were speechless.

Elvis knew he had to break the ice and joked he’d have to go to bed if they just sat there staring at him.

In the end, the five had a jam session and then went on to play some pool.

Meanwhile, Elvis’ home of Graceland is temporarily closed due to the pandemic.

For the duration of the lockdown, the front of the Memphis mansion is being floodlit in the red, white and blue of the American flag.

Fans can watch the patriotic sight on a live cam found on Graceland’s official website.

Graceland hopes to reopen on May 21, but the closure could well be extended.
